For the first time, the general public was invited to virtually attend the Per Jacobsson Lecture, a high-level academic event that is held at the BIS every two years to commemorate the BIS's first Economic Adviser, Per Jacobsson (1894-1963). The lecture is organised in partnership with the International Monetary Fund. Per Jacobsson was Economic Adviser of the BIS from September 1931 until October 1956. He was a member of the Economic and Financial Section of the Secretariat of the League of Nations in Geneva from 1920 to 1928. In 1931 Per Jacobsson became head of the Monetary and Economic Department of the newly-established Bank for International Settlements. He was responsible for writing the Bank's Annual Report, which acquired, under his guidance, a world-wide reputation. He also undertook many important assignments outside the Bank.
